Dating from the eight century , it is rediscovered in the nineteenth and is now undergoing extensive restoration. This book surveys the history of Borobudur, tells the story of Buddha portrayed in stone and examines the stylistic importance of the carvings it is lavishly illustrated with a series of superb photographs in colour and black and white.
